Preparation for Life’s Transitions

End of Life Planning & Death doula Services

All human beings are connected through shared human experiences such as birth and death. In both life-changing moments, we approach these events knowing that there are unknowns and uncertainties. I, Tamaru, believe that by acknowledging our mortality and the unknown, we can engage more deeply with one’s life and find peace. As an end of life planner and a death doula, my vision is to bring a holistic care approach and compassion into death and dying, a major life transition. May I be the bridge for where you are now in your situation and where you want to be.

My role varies and may encompass: offering guidance, creating legacies, assisting in logistics and facilitating open conversations about death, grief support allowing individuals and their circle of support to express themselves in a safe environment. Empowering you and those you love to navigate this profound experience with grace and dignity, celebrating lives lived and approaching death without regret.

How may i support you?

Organization/ Education

I offer educational sessions about end of life planning and topics related to death, and dying. I work with you to create a Legacy Project.

I offer to help you navigate the medical system, from the moment you receive a diagnosis until death and after. Assisting with logistics such as end of life paperwork, Advanced Directives, and making prearrangement.

Human Touch & Support

I provide human support in a variety of ways; coordinating care, sitting with individuals to offer comfort and companionship in their final moments, giving caregivers respite to recharge, and helping them process their emotions. Being there for the range of experiences around death is important, as it recognizes the complexity of grief.

I believe each person has intrinsic value and has the right to dignity in their transition.

After Death

Assisting you in remembering those you love. Supporting you in times of grief and loss by providing grief support. Helping you wrap up affairs.

Practical matters may involve home funerals, celebration of life and memorial services, or celebrations of life, helping families honor the deceased in meaningful ways. Memory work encourages sharing stories and memories, which aids in processing grief and honoring the deceased.

WHAT IS A DEATH DOULA?

I am a death doula certified by Going with Grace.  This short summary of the training course explains their outlook.

Going with Grace

Death doulas and end of life planners will play a unique role in today’s society as it prepares to embrace shifting consciousness around dying coupled with a shifting generational dynamic.  Using cultural, philosophical, and personal perspectives, students will explore conscious dying as a vehicle for a conscious living while critically examining their own narratives on death and dying.

National End of Life Doula Alliance

End-of-life doulas (EOLDs) provide a broad range of non-medical, holistic support and comfort to those preparing for or experiencing end of life. EOLDs come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences with a shared desire to educate, guide, companion, and assist the dying and their families/carers in myriad ways. People who desire such support may engage with EOLDs as early as initial diagnosis, or as late as the beginning of the active dying phase or even after death, if bereavement care is what they are seeking. Although there is no definitive list of services offered by EOLDs, they generally include several of the following: education and guidance; practical/logistical assistance; emotional, social, and spiritual care–before, during, and after a death. EOLDs may provide informational resources, hands-on comfort measures, respite, facilitation, advocacy, and many other services. Not all EOLDs offer the same modalities or expertise; if an individual or family desires services that they cannot or do not provide, the EOLD endeavors to make referrals and help locate needed resources. Above all, EOLDs seek to help those dying and their loved ones achieve an end-of-life experience that is as meaningful, peaceful, and well-prepared as possible for all involved.
